AI STL Generator — Generate 3D Printable Models with AI
SliceFoundry is an AI-powered STL generator built specifically for 3D printing.
You describe the object you want — in plain language — and the model produces
a printable STL file you can preview, refine through follow-up prompts, and
download.
Unlike general-purpose AI image or 3D asset tools, SliceFoundry's output is
intended to be printed: manifold geometry, sensible wall
thickness, real measurements, and FDM-friendly proportions.
Why Use AI for STL Generation
- Skip the CAD learning curve. No need to learn Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Blender, or OpenSCAD to make a one-off part.
- Faster first draft. Start from a working 3D model instead of a blank workspace.
- Conversational iteration. Adjust dimensions and features by asking for changes in normal English.
- Built for printing. Geometry is generated with FDM constraints in mind — wall thickness, overhangs, mounting features.
- Cross-slicer. The STL works in Cura, OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, and any modern slicer.
How the AI STL Generator Works
- Describe what you want in plain language, including approximate measurements and features.
- SliceFoundry's AI generates a 3D model and renders a live preview.
- Refine the model with follow-up prompts. The AI keeps context, so each prompt builds on the previous design.
- Download the result as a binary STL ready to slice and print.
What Makes a Good AI Prompt
- State the purpose first ("a wall bracket to hold a 9mm cable", "a knob for a 6mm D-shaft").
- Specify overall dimensions in millimetres.
- Call out mounting features explicitly — screw holes, snap tabs, recesses, friction-fit posts.
- Note constraints — print orientation, supports allowed, wall thickness.
- For replacement parts, describe what the part attaches to.
Detail Tiers
SliceFoundry offers basic, detailed, and premium generation tiers. Basic is great for
simple geometric parts; detailed handles richer feature counts; premium captures fine
details like ridged surfaces, recessed text, and complex curves. Pick the tier that
matches the complexity of the object you're describing.
After the STL: Print Settings
A great STL still needs good print settings. SliceFoundry also generates slicer profiles
for your specific printer and filament, so you don't lose the AI advantage at the slicer
step. If your first print struggles, the
Fix My Print assistant diagnoses the failure and suggests
corrections.
